A domino-style game with a number-bond twist!

Instead of matching the same numbers, players connect numbers that add up to 10. A 3 needs a 7, a 6 needs a 4, a 1 needs a 9... build your chain and keep those number bonds working.

Number Friends is a simple card game designed to build confidence with number bonds to 10, addition and number sense through play.

How to play

Print and cut out the 24 Number Friends cards.

Play just like dominoes, but instead of matching identical numbers, the two touching numbers must add up to 10.

Take turns adding a card to the chain. If you can't make 10 with either end, you can't play that card.

Playing with younger children? Use the same cards as a matching game instead. Simply connect identical numbers to practise number recognition and matching.

You'll need

• Your printed and cut-out Number Friends cards

• A space to build your number chain

Top tip: Laminate the cards before cutting them out if you'd like a more durable set you can use again and again.
